Dr Christos Tryfonides is a consultant ophthalmologist with subspecialty in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (Oculoplastic Surgery).
Dr Tryfonides trained to become an ophthalmologist at Sheba Medical Center, Tel Hashomer, Israel for 7 years and then continued his subspecialty training in Oculoplastic Surgery at the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital in Manchester UK for an additional 2 years. He returned in Cyprus in 2017 and since then has been practising in the private sector at Aretaeio Hospital. He provides general ophthalmology services like management of dry eye, blepharitis, glaucoma management, diabetic retinopathy screening, maculopathy treatments with intravitreal injections, pterygium surgery, cataract surgery with Phacoemulcification etc, as well as manages specialised oculoplastic conditions originating from the eyelids, lacrimal system and orbits. Common oculoplastic conditions are eyelid malpositions (Ectropion. Entropion, trichiasis, blepharoptosis), eyelid tumors/lesions (xanthelasmae, papillomas etc), lacrimal system obstructions causing watery eyes and orbital conditions like thyroid eye disease, inflammations or tumors.
Dr Christos Tryfonides also addresses cosmetic periocular issues like upper eyelid dermatochalasis (redundant skin) and lower lid redundant skin or eye bags with upper and lower eyelid blepharoplasties.
